Cantaloupe: Use Your Melon for Health and Beauty
Our girl Pamela Anderson has always known that when it comes to melons a girl should just go big.
But don’t fret, you don’t necessarily need to become a resident of the Silicon Valley in order to reap the many benefits that melons, especially cantaloupes, have to offer.
Cantaloupe Confidential
Check out the numerous health benefits offered by sweet, luscious cantaloupe:
- Combats Cancer: High in Vitamin C, an anti-oxidant which captures free-radicals
- Controls blood pressure: High in potassium which helps regulate blood pressure
- Reduces Heart Attacks and Stroke: Potassium in cantaloupe also helps control homocysteine, a substance known to trigger heart attacks and stroke
- Fiber: helps control weight and lowers cholesterol
Cantaloupe Keeps You Cute
Consistent with Dr. Nicholas Perricone’s acclaimed theory that good nutrition benefits your exterior as much as interior, cantaloupe has much to offer when it comes to getting beautified.
Cantaloupe melon has a high-water content and anti-oxidants that can work wonders for your complexion, creating clear, pore-less, radiant skin. Consider how many expensive, topical, Vitamin C products you see the lining store shelves every day. The reason these products are in high demand is because Vitamin C is proven to help skin defy age while improving tone, texture and radiance. Now, if applying Vitamin C externally gets good results, just imagine what taking Vitamin C internally can do?!
Think of canteloupe as a cheap, delicious ticket to skin success! Plus, the good dose of fiber in cantaloupe means it will keep you fuller, longer, exactly what you need to keep your diet plan on track and your butt in those sexy, cute-girl jeans.
Who Cut The Cantaloupe
For a long time I avoided buying cantaloupe because I didn’t want the hassle of cutting the darn thing. It seemed my attempts always ended with a countertop laden with a gloppy, sticky mess and pieces of melon that still had seeds embedded.
I’ll share two ways to go about getting perfectly cut cantaloupe chunks in only a few minutes.
Tip Uno: Go directly to Whole Foods where some produce angel has already done all the work and sealed the deal in a plastic container. The downside is that this can get pricey despite the fact that even organic cantaloupe is generally inexpensive.
Tip Dos: You are going for the Yul Brenner look. Yup. Just use your knife and basically scalp the entire melon, and then slice downward from top to bottom. You can serve these “half moon slices” or cut them into chunks and refrigerate.
All you’ll be left with will be the seedy, middle hunk that you can simply toss into la garbage.
p.s.: Cut cantaloupe retains almost 100% of its nutrients for at least 6 days!
Shake Your Melon
For a thick, refreshing, extraordinarily nutritious smoothie or protein shake, toss several frozen chunks of cantaloupe in your blender instead of ice cubes.
The mild sweetness of cantaloupe blends perfectly with all other types of fruit and even complements chocolate protein powders.
Grab your melons!
For glowing, taut skin, a hot behind and a multitude of impressive health benefits just follow Pam’s lead and go for the melons!
