Health and Fitness Tips - Improve Health With Ancient Healing Techniques

Rub me, stroke me, do with me what you will! Yes, I admit I’m kind of easy when it comes to laying down on the massage table. Yet, I’m sure you’ll agree, surrendering aching muscles to the competent hands of a massage therapist is one of life’s greatest pleasures. Health

But if you think aromatherapy massage is the only way, or the best way, to detoxify your body by stimulating blood and oxygen flow, you may want to read a bit about an ancient Chinese technique called Gua Sha that produces incredible health benefits.

What Is Gua Sha?

Gua Sha, used for centuries in China is based on the movement of bioelectrical life force (energy) also known as Chi or Qi (chee). Gua Sha works to improve health and treat disease by increasing circulation and removing toxic heat, stagnant blood and lymph fluid. This health treatment is so effective, the Chinese government actually funds GuaSha campaigns in order to reduce health care costs.

What To Expect: A Gua Sha Treatment

- Gua Sha oil is layered onto the skin, it may be enhanced by being combined certain herbs or essential oils.

- Skin is scraped in ailing areas or over the entire body.

- Scraping creates a suction that pulls stagnant intercellular fluid to the surface so that toxic waste is removed and replaced with oxygenated, nutrient-dense fluid.

- As toxic fluid is pushed ahead of the scraper, a small indentation will appear.

- Toxic fluid or Sha, can be seen on the surface of the skin as small red, purple or green pools of blood. Only areas where there was toxicity will create this discoloration.

Gua Sha To Treat Numerous Ailments

Gua Sha is used to treat and heal the entire meridian system and also to address a wide array of health problems including:

- Chronic degenerative diseases
- Migraines
- Neck, shoulder and back pain
- Menstrual Disorders
- Insomnia
- Sciatica
- Rheumatoid Arthritis
- Stress

And the list goes on and on………..

Does Gua Sha Hurt? I Hate Stuff That Hurts!

No! The scraping associated with Gua Sha should not be painful.

Results?

I am impressed.

After 5 Gua Sha treatments ($100/hr), I can tell you that I find them more beneficial than basic massage for treating my chronic sciatica and for generating an all-over sense of well-being. Plus, after a Gua Sha session I look forward to feeling immediately revitalized, not sleepy as I generally do after massage.

A Quick Tip

The hickey-like scrape marks Gua Sha leaves behind dissipate after just a few days. But, keep in mind that you will have marks so maybe it’s not the best idea to have a GS treatment right before you wear that halter dress to the company picnic.

Massage Still Rocks

No question, a Swedish massage is a beautiful thing. And a hot stone massage? Pure bliss. But if you are interested in trying something new that may promote even deeper healing than massage alone, consider Gua Sha.

Think of it this way- now hickeys can make you healthy!

Love,

Found out about Gua Sha by accident and I’m happy with the results .. used originally for neck pain and use all over body for overall health benefits .. skin looks and feels much better .. do the gua sha on myself (where I can reach) on a weekly basis and will continue to use for life .. highly recommend this treatment whether you DIY or have the treatment performed
